Welmede Stories was a series of workshops held for Welmede, an organisation providing housing, care and support to adults with learning difficulties. The workshops ran over three weeks as part of the Stanley Picker Creator Academy’s (SPCA) schedule of ‘curated events’.
The workshops were loosely based on the application Snapchat, as a tool of medium for disseminating or sharing ideas, through a combination of video, text, and digital collage. Each week specific focus was paid to one of the SPCA’s core values: Collaboration, Community and Sharing. Through the production of different forms of media, participants were given the opportunity to use the space and to express what these terms meant to them as a group, the workshops culminated in the production of a short film, written and produced by the participants.
