#netWORKing

When did work stop working?

#netWORKing a networking event about networked working, remodeled and hacked a number of activities typical to corporate and business networking ‘opportunities’ and events. The event comprised of a series of mini workshops and activities, asking: “What the future of work looks like when your boss is an algorithm? You‘re #nevernotworking? Or you‘re performance keeps getting rated way below five stars?”

#netWORKing was hosted by Common Initiative at the Stanley Picker Creators Academy (SPCA) a project by Onkar Kular for the Stanley Picker Gallery. The SPCA referenced the  design rhetoric – visual, programmatic and linguistic –  of a new type of creative working environments which have seen an increase globally over recent years, for example,  co-working spaces and creative hub’s and other large scale creative office’s such as Google or YouTube’s offices. #netWORKing used the features and structure of a typical networking event to collectively critically examine current trends in the field of contemporary labour.
